Plan 5–7 days for one city or compact region. With 8–10 days, you can complete a regional road trip or combine nearby destinations. The country is too large to cover several distant regions in one short visit.
-
The best season depends entirely on the region. Spring and autumn work well for many cities, summer is popular for national parks, and winter is ideal for warm southern destinations or ski trips.
-
Cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere. Keep a small amount of cash for tips, markets, and occasional small businesses.
-
Public transportation works well in several major cities, but a rental car is usually necessary for national parks, small towns, and road trips. Domestic flights are practical between distant regions.
-
Packing needs vary significantly by destination and season. Check the local weather and bring comfortable shoes, versatile layers, and any specialized clothing needed for outdoor activities.
