Hi! I’m Karen.
My three favorite things are traveling, photography, and personal finance. Of course, I found a way to combine them.
I am a travel blogger, photographer, and accountant based near NYC. I still work a full-time 9-to-5, so I know what it’s like to want to see the world without having unlimited time off.
I’ve been a photographer for over 15 years, specializing in documentary-style photography. Over time, my interests expanded into filmmaking, graphic design, web design, and eventually travel blogging. Naturally, when I started traveling more, my camera came with me.
So far, I’ve traveled to 21 countries and 23 U.S. states, and I’m always looking for new places to explore. Photography has made that exploration even more fun. There’s something about having a camera in your hand that makes you slow down, notice more, wander down a different street, walk the extra mile, and wait patiently for something beautiful to happen.
Karen From Earth is for people who work full-time but still have that itch to see the world. I’m right there with you. Most of my trips are planned around weekends, holidays, and carefully chosen PTO days, and my accountant brain loves figuring out how to make a trip feel realistic, well-planned, and worth the money.
Here, you’ll find practical travel guides, long weekend ideas, 5–9 day itineraries, packing tips, planning advice, and honest recommendations for international trips that fit into real life.
Not all of us can take weeks off at a time, and that’s okay. I’m here to help you make the most of the time you do have, plan trips that feel worth it, and see more of the world without waiting for “someday.”
