Under normal travel conditions, plan 7–10 days for Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, and one or two additional destinations. Always check current travel advisories and transportation conditions before making plans.
-
For weather, spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons. Summer can be extremely hot, particularly around the Dead Sea and desert, while winter is cooler and can be rainy.
-
Cards are widely accepted in cities, hotels, and restaurants. Keep some shekels for markets, small businesses, and occasional transportation purchases.
-
Trains and buses connect many major cities. Public transportation is limited from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening for Shabbat, so plan around service schedules. A rental car can be helpful for more remote areas.
-
Bring lightweight layers, comfortable walking shoes, and sun protection. Pack clothing that covers your shoulders and knees for religious sites and a warmer layer for cool evenings.
