Plan 3–4 days for Budapest. With 5–7 days, you can add Eger, Lake Balaton, Pécs, or another destination outside the capital.

April through June and September through October offer comfortable sightseeing weather. Summer can be hot and busy, while December is popular for holiday markets.

Cards are widely accepted in Budapest and other cities. Keep some Hungarian forint for markets, small businesses, and rural destinations. Avoid choosing conversion into your home currency at payment terminals.

Budapest has an excellent metro, tram, and bus network. Trains and buses connect the capital with other cities and popular day-trip destinations.

Bring comfortable shoes, layers, and a compact rain jacket. Pack a swimsuit and sandals if you plan to visit Budapest’s thermal baths.
