Cash remains important for tips, markets, small restaurants, taxis, and local purchases. Cards are generally accepted at larger hotels, restaurants, and tourist businesses. Keep small Egyptian-pound notes available.
Domestic flights save time between distant areas. Trains connect Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan, while private drivers, organized tours, and Nile cruises are convenient for sightseeing.
Bring lightweight, breathable clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, comfortable shoes, sun protection, and a scarf. Pack a light jacket for cool desert evenings and air-conditioned spaces.
